How to Deactivate a Broadcast Topic?

When a topic is temporarily not used, but you don't need to delete it, deactivation allows hiding it from the list of available topics without data loss. This instruction will help temporarily disable a topic.

When Needed

  • The topic is temporarily not used, but may be needed in the future.
  • You need to hide the topic from the list of available topics when creating new broadcasts.
  • Preserving topic usage history is important for reporting.

What's Important to Know

  • Deactivated topic — topic with disabled status that is not displayed in the list of available topics when creating new broadcasts.
  • Deactivation does not affect already created broadcasts that use this topic.
  • A deactivated topic can be reactivated at any time.

Prerequisites

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. In the Broadcast module, go to the "Broadcast Topics" section — a table with existing topics opens.
  2. Find the needed topic in the list and click the edit icon (pencil) in the row of this topic — the "Broadcast Topic Parameters" modal window appears.
  3. Uncheck the "Topic Active" checkbox — the topic status changes to inactive.
  4. Click the "Save" button — the modal window closes, the topic status icon in the list changes to inactive.

What Happens After

The topic becomes inactive and is not displayed in the list of available topics when creating new broadcasts. All existing broadcasts that use this topic continue to work.

How to Verify It Worked

  • Check that the topic status icon in the list changed to inactive (gray).
  • Try creating a new broadcast — the deactivated topic should not be available in the list for selection.
