How to Generate a Password Reset Link Manually (Administrator)

When a user cannot receive email or SMS, an administrator can create a magic link and pass it directly. The link is one-time and valid for a limited time.

When It Will Be Useful

  • The user does not have access to email or SMS.
  • You need to help urgently without waiting for notification configuration.

What's Important to Know

  • The link is one-time and has an expiration time (depends on PASSWORD_RESET_TOKEN_TTL).
  • After use, the link becomes invalid; old links are automatically invalidated if a new one is generated.

Before You Start

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open user management.
  2. Find the needed user and open their card.
  3. Click Reset Password (or a similar button for reset).
  4. The system will generate a magic link and copy it to the clipboard.
  5. Pass the link to the user via a convenient channel (chat, email, call).
  6. Explain that the link is one-time and valid for a limited time.

What Happens After

  • The user opens the link, sets a new password, and can immediately log in.
  • If the link is not used and a new one is generated — the previous one becomes invalid.

How to Verify Everything Worked

  • The user confirms they logged in with the new password.
  • There are no "Link expired" or "already used" errors.

Other Ways

  • Enable automatic notifications so users can independently request a link through "Forgot password?".
