Create a client manually

Sometimes you need a client in the database before they write in a messenger or by email. For example after a phone call or an offline meeting. This guide shows how to create a client card by hand and fill in the rest later.

When you need it

  • The client reached you by phone or offline, and they are not in the database yet.
  • You want to create the client in advance so later chats or a broadcast can be attached to them.
  • You need a test or service client to check settings.

What to know

  • The Create client button appears on the Clients toolbar when this capability is enabled for your account. If the button is missing, ask an administrator.
  • To create a client it is enough to fill at least one of: full name, email, or phone.
  • Organization and extra fields can be filled on Step 2 of 2 in the same panel, before you save. Tags and channels can be added on the client card after save.
  • The button is unavailable in Without Contacts mode, because that mode shows only visitors without a profile.

Before you start

Steps

  1. In Clients, click Create client at the top of the page. The create panel opens on Step 1 of 2: basic details, with the hint Provide at least a name, email, or phone.
  2. Fill in Full name, Email, and/or Phone — at least one field is enough.
  3. Click Next. If none of the three fields is filled, the panel stays on step 1 with Enter at least a full name, email, or phone. Fill one of the fields and click Next again.
  4. On Step 2 of 2: organization and custom fields, optionally pick an Organization and fill extra fields. Or leave them empty.
  5. Click Save. After saving, the new client card opens. There you can add tags or attach channels.

What happens next

The client is created and added to the database — you see the message Client created. The client card is open and ready for more data: you can add tags or write to the client immediately.

How to confirm it worked

  • Check that the Client created message appeared.
  • Find the new client in the Clients table via search by the name, email, or phone you entered.
  • Open the client card and confirm that the data you entered was saved.
