How to test a telephony webhook
Verify the telephony webhook before going live. Testing confirms that channel settings are correct and calls will be processed properly.
Prerequisites
- A configured telephony channel
- Saved channel settings
When to use it
- After setting up a new telephony channel
- After changing field mapping in Advanced Config
- When you need to confirm the webhook works
Test via UI
Step 1: Open the channel form
- Go to Settings → Bots
- Select the bot you need
- Open the Telephony tab
- Open the channel for editing
Step 2: Run the test
- Click Test
- The system will:
- Build a sample payload from your field mapping
- Send the webhook to your Webhook URL
- Show the test result
Step 3: Check the result

Check the test status:
- Success — webhook processed, dialogue created
- Error — read the error message

If the test succeeded:
- Go to Operator Panel → Closed requests
- Find the test dialogue with type Telephony
- Confirm fields are filled correctly
Test via CURL
To test manually or from another service:
- In the channel form, click Test
- Copy the generated CURL command
- Run it in a terminal
- Expect

What to verify
- Dialogue created with type Telephony
- Phone numbers normalized to E.164
- Call status and duration are correct
- Recording URL saved if present in payload
- Transcript saved if present in payload
Common issues
Webhook not processed
- Channel is active
- Webhook URL and token match the channel
- Payload format matches Webhook format (JSON or form)
Fields not mapped
- Check field mapping in Advanced Config
- Field names match what the provider sends
- Use test webhook to inspect payload
Phone numbers not normalized
- Check default country code
- Check provider number format
- Verify
