How to Check the Operations Journal
Operations on cards are irreversible, so the only way to answer "who did this and what was there before" is the journal. It keeps every completed operation together with a snapshot of the state before it. This guide helps you find the entry you need and read it.
When You Need It
- A client or an operator asks why the history in a card looks different from yesterday.
- You are checking that a colleague finished the untangling they started.
- You need to know which card to look under for reports covering the period before a transfer.
What You Should Know
- Operation — the action that was applied: Split off contact(s), Move contact to owner, Merge cards, or Move dialogs to owner.
- Actor — the user who applied the operation. If the platform did it, the column reads system.
- Snapshot before the operation — the saved state of the cards just before it ran.
Before You Start
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Open the journal
Click Operations journal in the top right corner of the case list. The same button is on the result screen after a completed operation.
2. Find the entry
Entries are ordered newest first. If you are looking for a specific card, type its number into the Card ID field and press Enter — only operations where that card was the source or the target will remain.
3. Read the row
- Operation — what was done, with a coloured badge for the type of action.
- Cards — two numbers with an arrow: where the data came from and where it went. Both numbers are clickable and lead to the case list filtered by that card.
- Actor — who applied the operation.
- Time — when it happened: how long ago, and the exact date.
4. Look at the state before the operation
Click the eye icon at the end of the row — the Snapshot before the operation window opens with the state of the cards before it ran.
At the top of the window you can see which card keeps the historical reporting: closed dialogs are not re-attributed in reports, they stay with the card as of the closing date. That is the number you need when looking for reports from before the operation.
What Happens After
The journal is read-only — viewing it changes nothing. You get a complete answer to "who did what to this card and when", plus the card number to look under for older reports.
How to Verify Everything Worked
- The operation you just applied is the first row, with your name and the current time.
- The card numbers in the row match the ones you saw in the wizard.
- If nothing has been done yet, you will see No operations yet — check that the card number filter has not narrowed the selection.
