# How to Configure Hot Keys?

Configuring hot keys allows you to change key combinations for quick actions in the operator panel, such as sending messages, creating a new line, and email HTML editor shortcuts.

## When You'll Need This

- You need to change the key combination for sending messages (Enter or Ctrl+Enter).
- You need to configure the combination for creating a new line in a message (Shift+Enter or Enter).
- You need separate shortcuts for the **HTML editor (email)** (send, new line, new paragraph).

## What's Important to Know

- **Chat message input** — send via Enter or Ctrl+Enter; new line via Shift+Enter or Enter.
- **HTML editor (email)** — three actions (send, new line, new paragraph) must not share the same key.
- **Combination conflicts** — overlapping keys block **Save** and show an error above the accordion sections.

## Before You Start

- [x] You are logged in with administrator or supervisor rights.
- [x] You have permission to save operator panel settings.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

### 1. Open Hot Keys Settings

1. Go to the **Settings** module through the menu or directly at `/settings-page`.
2. In the side menu, find the **"Settings"** section (operator panel subsection) and expand it.
3. Click **"Hotkeys"** (`/settings-page/op-settings/hot-keys`).

### 2. Use the toolbar (optional)

1. In **Search settings...**, type part of a label to filter accordion blocks.
2. Use **Collapse all groups** / **Expand all groups** and **Show hints** / **Hide hints** to control layout and field explanations.

### 3. Configure chat hot keys

1. Expand **Message input hotkeys**.
2. Under **Send key**, choose **Enter** or **Ctrl+Enter**.
3. Under **New line**, choose **Shift+Enter** or **Enter**.
4. Enable the Ctrl+Enter send-timeout override if shown and needed.

### 4. Configure HTML editor (email)

1. Expand **HTML editor (email)**.
2. Set combinations for **send**, **new line**, and **new paragraph** so no two actions use the same key.

### 5. Resolve conflicts and save

1. If combinations overlap, an error appears above the accordions and **Save** in the page header stays disabled — fix the conflict in the relevant block.
2. Click **Save** when enabled and wait for confirmation.

## What Happens Next

Hot keys are applied to all operators in the system:
- Key combinations work according to settings.
- Operators can use the configured shortcuts in chats and the email editor.

## How to Verify Everything Worked

- Open a chat in the operator panel and test send and new-line shortcuts.
- Open an email dialog and test HTML editor shortcuts.
