# How to find a node on the canvas in Scenario Builder?

In a large scenario it is easy to “lose” a node on the canvas. **Node search** helps you find a block by title, message text, buttons, Entry Point alias, and other data — and jump to it without closing the search panel.

## When you need it

- The scenario has many nodes and it is hard to spot the right one on the canvas.
- You need to jump to a node in **another section** without manually browsing every section.
- You only remember part of a message or setting and want to find the node by that fragment.

## What you need to know

- The search panel **does not block** the canvas: you can drag it, keep it open, and keep editing the flow.
- Search uses the **current scenario language** for translated message and button texts.
- For convenience, your **last query** and the “search all sections” option may be **saved in the browser** on your device.

## Before you start

- [x] Scenario Builder is open with the scenario or section you need.
- [x] You have an idea of what to search for (node title, word from text, alias, etc.).

## Step-by-step instructions

### 1. Open node search

Do one of the following:

- Click the **magnifying glass** icon in the top toolbar (near auto layout).
- Or press **Ctrl+K** (Windows/Linux) or **⌘K** (macOS).

Pressing the same shortcut or icon again **closes** the panel. If the cursor is inside another text field, click the canvas or leave the field first — otherwise the shortcut may not run.

### 2. Enter a query

1. In the search field, type part of the **node title**, **description**, message or button text, Entry Point alias, or another fragment that exists in the node data.
2. The result list updates as you type.
3. To clear the field, click **×** inside the search box.

The UI may show small **tags** next to a result (for example, where the match was found — translation, configuration, etc.) to tell similar rows apart.

### 3. Limit or widen the search scope

- By default, only the **current section** (selected in the left panel) is searched.
- Turn on **“Search in all sections”** to search the whole scenario. Results are **grouped by section name**.

### 4. Open a node from the list

1. Click the row you need in the result list.
2. The canvas **pans** to that node and the node is **selected**. The search panel stays open and the query remains — you can check several matches quickly.

If the node is in **another section**, the editor switches to that section, then shows the node on the canvas.

### 5. Step through results with the panel arrows

If there are multiple matches, use the **previous** and **next** result buttons (arrows next to the result counter). The canvas focuses each matching node in turn. The canvas may **highlight** all matches or only the current one, depending on whether a row is selected in the list.

### 6. Use search history

1. Click the **history** icon (clock) next to the search field.
2. Pick an item from the list of recent queries — it fills the search field.
3. Use **Clear history** in that popover if you want to remove saved queries.

After you pick a node from the results, the current query may be added to history (when the field is not empty).

### 7. Minimize the panel without closing search

The panel header has a **minimize** action (a compact strip with the result list and counter remains). To bring back the full search field and options, use **expand** in compact mode.

### 8. Close search

- Click **×** in the panel header, or click the search icon again, or **Ctrl+K** / **⌘K**.

When the panel closes, extra **highlighting** on the canvas from search is cleared.
